About This Tool
Where To Give is an independent, volunteer-built directory to help people quickly find trusted nonprofits accepting donations. It is not affiliated with any listed organization.
How Organizations Are Selected
- Organizations must serve a listed location and accept donations from the public.
- We prioritize IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charities, though some funds and international programs may be structured differently.
- Each entry is manually reviewed against the organization's public website and available IRS data.
- No organization pays to be listed. Listing does not constitute an endorsement.
What “Verified” Means
Each entry is manually reviewed to confirm that:
- The organization's website is active and the donate link resolves.
- The stated intents, geography, and recurring-donation support match publicly available information.
- The 501(c)(3) status field reflects the organization's IRS tax-exempt status based on public records.
Verification is manual and periodic — it does not guarantee accuracy at the moment you view the site.
Filters Explained
- Tax-deductible only — shows only organizations where donations are deductible under IRS rules. Consult a tax professional for your specific situation.
- Small / local orgs only — filters to “small” orgs in our size classification, generally community-based nonprofits with local leadership.
- Recurring-friendly — shows only organizations that explicitly support automatic recurring (monthly) donations.
